This BVNPT accredited twelve month program offers both theory and practical hands-on training necessary to become a Vocational Nurse. The program will cover medical/surgical, gynecology, pediatrics, pharmacology, psychology, geriatric nursing, rehabilitation along with other fundamentals. Upon completion, you will be eligible to take the state licensure examination with the Board of Vocational Nursing (NCLEX-PN).
The role of a licensed vocational nurse include:
• Use and practice basic assessment (data collection)
• Provide direct patient care/nursing services
• Administer medications including oral and IV fluids
• Applies communication skills for the purpose of patient/client care and education
• Document patient/client care accordance to the standards of the profession
• Maintain current knowldedge and skills for safe and competent practice
• Maintain professional boundaries
Entrance examination covers: Reading Comprehension, Math Computation, Applied Mathematics and Language. Because scores are competitive, we recommend taking the
VN Entrance Prep-Course. Our screening selection include: exam scores, attendance, behavior, participation and punctuality, to name a few. Attending orientation is mandatory.

High School Diploma or GED required
Nursing Director: Erendida Nava-Lopez has been an RN for over 21 years. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Cal State Los Angeles, and her teaching credentials from San Diego State University and CSULB. She started as a staff nurse at LAC-USC Hospital and received ICU training while working at LAC-USC. Erendida then went on to work in the ICU and has also worked as a Transplant Coordinator for 5 years. She has taught clinical and theory for vocational nursing programs.
Instructor: Summer Allen, RN, BSN received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, California. She has had the opportunity to work in medical-surgical, emergency, and Labor & Delivery health care settings and more. Most recently Summer taught clinical courses to nursing students at Walla Walla School of Nursing in Portland, Oregon.
Instructor: Gale Mejico, RN received her A.R.N. from Mount St. Mary’s College, Los Angeles. In past years, she has worked in a variety of health care settings, most recently at nationally recognized Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey.
*Due to limited seating not all applicants will be accepted. Applicants will be accepted into the program based on test scores.
